Amidst today’s iPhone launch hype and hoopla, there’s also less publicized but telling news of the impact cell phones are having (and will have) on landlines (hard-wired phones) and phone directories. It’s a sign of the times, reflecting a mobile society and technological advances.

Back in March, Harvard professor David Yoffie calculated the iPhone had already generated $400 million worth of publicity for Apple. Can you imagine what that figure is today? The iPhone stories have reached a fever pitch almost everywhere you look, and it seems reasonable to assume that Yoffie’s previous publicity estimate has now doubled and could be approaching or exceeding one billion dollars! The huge wave of stories will continue right through the weekend as iPhones go on sale tomorrow.

If you’ve been grocery shopping lately, you might have noticed Doritos has a new flavor on the market — but you’ll have to decide for yourself exactly what that flavor is. You might even win a contest.
The new chips don’t exactly fit in with tried-and-true favorites like “Nacho Cheese” and “Cool Ranch,” with their black packaging and science experiment-esque label “X13-D.”
According to Frito Lay, the new flavor is, in fact, part of an experiment — an interactive marketing one, that is.
