Earn $300,000 With Google AdSense
byYou know those ads in the back of magazines offering untold riches to work from home? Well I’m going to tell you right now to stop wasting your time with that and get yourself a Google AdSense account immediately. John Chow has compiled a list of the top AdSense earners that Google sends ridiculously, enormous checks to on a monthly basis. Amazingly the top earner, the guy cashing $300,000 checks every month, operates his dating site Plenty of Fish with only one employee, his girlfriend.
At number two on the list is Kevin Rose and his very popular site Digg, which honestly surprised me, though I don’t really dig Digg and have never paid enough attention to notice if it had Google Ads. If I had, I probably wouldn’t be as surprised. But any site that gets a lot of traffic is more than likely going to make a lot of money from people clicking on the ads. Which is why seeing Jason Calacanis further down the list didn’t surprise me one bit. If anything, I was surprised he wasn’t further toward the top. His blog publishing network of around 75 blogs earns about $4,000 a day, at least it did the last time he said anything about it.
The other six money earners I had never heard of and, by Chow’s own admission, the list is not at all complete. Many people that earn big money don’t talk about or share that information for one reason or another. In fact, by the comments on his post, a few people even claim they should be on the list. Of course, making an anonymous claim on a blog about how much money you make is about as easy as claiming you’re not overweight while filling out a dating profile.
The thing to understand is that while none of these people have insanely great ideas, or even for that matter, great sites, in some cases — Plenty of Fish is right up there with MySpace in terms of visual appeal — they do manage to have large amounts of traffic to their sites. In the end, it really comes down to having enough traffic to make those clicks count, a site that averages twenty visits a day isn’t likely to do much to Google’s checking account. If anything, these eight people serve as an inspiration that if you put some work into it, you can easily make some money.
In other words, you don’t need to invent the next MySpace to make money. Though it wouldn’t hurt.
