RSS Still Too Confusing? SimplyHeadlines Delivers News to Your Inbox

by

If you still haven’t figured out the whole RSS thing, and I don’t blame you if you haven’t, but are curious what all the fuss is about SimplyHeadlines could help. SimplyHeadlines is a nifty service I recently found that delivers a newspaper styled email to your inbox at the same time every day. Simply sign up and select from a list of popular feeds on a variety of topics, pick a time for your daily delivery of news and you’re done. Nothing more to do other than read your personal newspaper when it arrives each day.

I combined a few of the feeds they provide with some of my favorites to make my morning newspaper and got the first one this morning. At first I was doubtful that I’d find much use since I spend a fair share of time in my RSS reader already. But this morning when my “newspaper” showed up, I felt like I did when I used to sit down and read the paper every morning, it was kind of nice to scroll through and see some of the top news chosen by me. The only thing missing was a delicious glazed donut and glass of chocolate milk.

There are plenty of sites providing similar features online, but there is something about having it delivered to me that made it a little bit more exciting. In fact, I’m going to remove the feeds that I already access elsewhere and use SimplyHeadlines to deliver a dose of normal news that I’ve been neglecting lately. That’s one way to reduce the amount of unread stories in my reader, move them to my inbox.
