Simple Goal Tracking with Joe’s Goals

Over the past three months, I’ve taken a different outlook on life and been much more interested in not only getting healthier, but also improving other areas of my life. Since I’m obsessed with Web2.0 goodness, I figured there has to be something online that can help me track what I do. Initially, I raised the idea with a co-worker that we should build a site that helps track your goals from 43things.

But, right after we talked about it I ran across Morale-O-Meter created by one of the guys responsible for 43things. While it wasn’t quite what we had talked about doing, it was close enough to dash our Web2.0 dreams. I used Morale-O-Meter for awhile, but eventually I started to track my daily activities less and less. Plus I never really knew for sure how to rank some of the categories...was yesterday an 8 or 9 healthwise?

A few days ago, I found what I think will be the end of my quest (I’ll leave out the ones that I didn’t even bother trying), Joe’s Goals. Joe’s Goals is very easy to set up and start using. You can create as many (as far as I can tell) positive and negative goals as you want. Tracking them is easy, you either did it or not. Did I post to my blog today? Yup, sure did. Click. Done. You have the option of clicking your goals as often as you want. So, if I post three more entries, I could add three more checkmarks. You do get a daily total which is just the total number of positive goal checks minus the total number of negative goal checks.

I’m not as concerned with my daily tally as I am with seeing if I’m doing any of the things I want to be doing (read, take photos, blog) or not doing those I don’t want to do (drink, smoke, break a leg). You can also share selected goals with people if there is somebody you want to impress with how long it’s been since you had your last soda.

If you’re looking for an extremely simple way to keep track of things in your life, you should check out Joe’s Goals.
