TechPresident Tracks the Presidential Technology Race
byYouTube has already been a factor in the 2008 presidential race. As Sarah posted earlier this week, the first YouTube debate with Democratic candidates sparked conversation and interest. (So far, Republican candidates seem less enthusiastic about the format.)
For further proof of Web 2.0’s growing political influence, head over to TechPresident, a nonpartisan site that tracks various technology and social media indicators.
TechPresident covers how candidates use the web – and how voter use of technology influences the race. Created by the Personal Democracy Forum, the site pulls together several Web 2.0-flavored measurements:
- Flickr feeds
- YouTube viewership stats for each candidate
- Charts to track each candidate’s volume of MySpace friends and Facebook supporters
- Technorati tracking to assess each candidate’s prominence in blogs
- Grassroots requests for candidate visits (through Eventful.com)
- Links to official candidate sites and blogs
If you want to assess your favorite candidate’s web presence, or simply monitor technology’s role throughout the race, it’s a fascinating resource.
