Apple Continues to Dominate Digital Content Delivery
byThere was a period of a few weeks that I was eagerly posting any new announcements Apple made regarding the addition of television shows to the iTunes store. Now that CBS has quickly ditched its relationship with Google Video and is talking with Apple it seems Apple’s blitzkrieg into video delivery is nearly over and they’ve already won. Showtime added three of its shows this week which makes them the first pay network to do so. Now if Apple could get HBO’s award-winning collection of shows I think you could say game over without any argument.
Apple hasn’t forgotten about the music market either, not at all. Earlier this week they introduced the 1GB iPod Nano that will continue to damper the spirits of iPod killer wannabes everywhere. Apple has the portable music player market covered from the very low end to the very high end. Ironically Dell announced this week they were ending production on its line of hard drive based mp3 players, maybe they knew got their hands on an early press release from Apple.
Today rumors surfaced that an entirely revamped video iPod will appear soon with a 3.5 inch touch screen. I still am out on how much people really want to watch TV on tiny screens but with the way Apple is making on-demand delivery viable so quickly I might just change my mind.
For once in the history of Apple they appear to be able to do no wrong. I hope they continue to prove the doubters wrong.
