Measure Map vs Google Analytics
byIsn’t it strange how things happen sometimes? I’ve been patiently waiting for an invitation to Measure Map beta, and then, one day after posting about Google’s foray into Web analytics, I finally get it? Measure Map is geared towards sites running on popular blog software like WordPress, Blogger, and newcomer, Typo. It tracks traffic at the level of posts and comments, which, I’m sure, is a nice feature for bloggers.
So, while it’s unfair to compare the two, based on features, Measure Map wins in ease of use and immediate satisfaction. Once you’ve completed the set-up process Measure Map immediately shows you results, (depending, of course, on whether your site or blog actually gets any traffic.) The site I tested with this morning, gets very little traffic, so I asked a friend to help “generate” some, in order to see Measure Map in action. Google Analytics requires at least 12 hours after installing it’s code on your site before you see any results, and even then I’ve discovered it seems to still have some bugs to work out.
Round one, I give to Measure Map. But, I’ll give Google at least a week to get up and running. I imagine the huge load Google has received in the past 48 hours has wreaked havoc on its systems.
Now, who wants to give me $30 so I can try mint?
