One Billion Phones

by

imageWhile Apple’s recent announcement of the iPhone has dominated the mobile market headlines lately, there is more significant news: one billion mobile phones were shipped in 2006. Anyone wondering about advertising’s future, simply has to put two and two together.

With mobile phones approaching ubiquity, and the fact that cell phones are with their users night and day, mobile marketing as a significant growth platform cannot be disregarded. Most people would prefer not to get advertising on their cell phones, but as all other forms of media have repeatedly demonstrated, if there is an economic benefit, advertising will be tolerated.

Also, as more and more cell users subscribe to Web services, mobile advertising will include exposure to all the current forms of advertising that are presently a part of the Internet.
