Podcasting Continues to Gain Credibility … and Income.

by

For those closely following our changing media landscape, you may already be familiar with the recently formed Association for Downloadable Media, an organization whose primary goal is to develop standards for podcasting advertising and audience measurement.  On Friday, September 28th, the ADM will be hold its first in-person meeting at the Podcasting and New Media Expo.  This will give attendees the chance to discuss the goals of the organization and discover what benefits podcasters may gain through ADM membership.

Of course some podcasters would tell you that a really nice benefit would be income.  Well, there is certainly good news on the horizon.  Recently, Greg brought you this article illustrating the recent increase in internet advertising.  Organizations such as eMarketer are also predicting a quintuple increase in podcasting advertising in the next five years.

A couple years ago it was easy to find articles predicting podcasting’s demise.  With $240 million forecasted to be spent on podcast advertising in 2008 (increasing to $400 million by 2011), I don’t believe we’ll see any new “podcasting is dead” articles anytime soon.
