Bing begins bemusing bid for attention

As part of a long legacy of lack-luster spots, this one fits right in.  With little more that a smattering of stock videos and a trite voiceover, I believe that the computer mega-giant is already proving that there’s plenty to doubt about the future of the new search engine.

All in all, this commercial lacks the drama needed to get the viewer on board with either the problem “the world’s crumbling and your search engine is part of the problem” or the solution “don’t worry proper search results through Bing will help.” 

Apple’s legendary 1984 spot launched its brand revival in a single Super Bowl placement, below, by bringing drama to the situation.  Hulu’s more recent television efforts have had the quirky fun that were both on-brand and memorable, also below.  Bing’s recent spot has neither.
