Online Shoppers Are An Active Bunch
A recent story at Internet Retailer points to the growing imperative for companies to be active on the Web. There are now 80 million online households in the U.S., and according to a Forrester Research report, three-fourths of those households have purchased goods online. In addition, about 53 million households have made an online purchase within the last three months. These are not just small purchases. Approximately 35 percent of online transactions exceeded $250 over a three-month period.
Online shopping in the U.S. is predicted to grow 18 percent this holiday season with over 114 million people buying on the Web. The Forrester report predicts online sales will grow over 300 percent in the next five years to reach $270 billion by 2011.
