Social Media Identity
Many companies have a profile on more than one social network. Each profile offers a different purpose, from Facebook sharing and communicating with community following your business, to a LinkedIn profile to keep up with employees and make professional connections. Each needs to be managed with consistency and a level of commitment.
Consistency is key
When business professionals, friends or family are jumping from one of your profiles to another, each bio, profile photo, and tone of voice should keep a consistent feel and look. The similarities between profiles will help cause less confusion and will also help you create a steady online identity. A similar tone of voice is also important for status updates and tweets. It helps to have one person dedicated and in charge of managing, communicating and responding through each social network. Make sure to support your profiles and updates with the values and uses of each social platform while maintaining a level of uniformity.
Commitment
People use social media to make a connection and to be informed in real time. Be sure to develop an identity and maintain updates on schedule to be sure the level of engagement is one your target market will appreciate and not be overwhelmed or underwhelmed with. In order to manage any social network, there must be an ongoing effort. To make the profile or account successful it takes time, experience and a passion to keep others informed at a professional level.
